If you hadn’t heard by now, October was American Cheese Month. Unfortunately, I was a little late to the party, my life was all over the place, but it doesn’t mean I didn’t celebrate. And celebrate I did. Thanks to Whole Foods, I was able […]
Last week, Whole Foods had a buy one get one free special on Fresh Mozzarella cheese. The minute I received the email, I knew I couldn’t resist, especially since I was off that day. I mean, who doesn’t love Fresh Mozzarella? It was the perfect […]
My “Grilled Cheese” Google Alerts have been piling up in my inbox and open tabs in my browser. I was saving the great grilled cheese sandwiches from around the web yet I had no time to post them. That time has come now, and it seems that the theme is onion. For some reason, everyone loves putting caramelized onions in their grilled cheese. I can’t complain, they all look great! Plus, there is a grilled cheese made completely out of cheese, nothing wrong with that! Anyway, on to the sandwiches…
In the past month or so, SheKnows has really been cranking out some great grilled cheese recipes. I feature one here, which is a little late considering it was for the Super Bowl, but it still looks delicious. I have always been a fan of spinach artichoke dip, even if it has become a staple of chain restaurant’s appetizer menus.
Other great recipes include Bacon Mac & Cheese, Brie, Blueberry & Balsamic, Jalapeno Popper, and Ultimate Nacho Grilled Cheese. I would definitely check SheKnows out if you are in mood for a great grilled cheese.
Pickles are a delicious ingredient that I clearly don’t use enough in my cooking. Add it to a Brie grilled cheese and you have yourself a great combination.
I love avocado. It is really as simple as that. You should feel the same way.
…and now begins the Onion portion of the show…
Yum. Look at that golden brown bread…
Even though Jen writes about my competition, I think I can still be impressed by her grilled cheese. Haha.
Spinach is healthy…so that makes this grilled cheese healthy, right?
Apple or onion are your choices for these grilled cheese sandwichs, but the recommendation is onion.
Although 100% unhealthy, this grilled cheese looks 100% delicious. I haven’t done much with bread cheese before, but after seeing this grilled cheese, it looks like I should go ahead and buy some bread cheese now.
It is the time of year when pumpkin, and apples, are found in everything from coffee drinks to ice cream. Grilled cheese sandwiches are not immune to this fall craze and so I begin this Grilled Cheese Roundup with a couple of delicious recipes for […]
Recently, I created a unique grilled cheese, highlighting Cabot Jalapeno Light Cheddar, which was sent directly from Cabot. The Chili Mayo & Cabot Jalapeno Light Cheddar Grilled Cheese, turned out amazingly well and was absolutely delicious. The only problem was, I had yet to use the Cabot […]
A few weeks ago, I received an email from Cabot asking me if I would like to try their “Light” cheeses as they are in the process of rolling out new packaging. I thought about it for a split second and then replied saying, in slightly different words, “Hell Yes!” I chose Light Sharp Cheddar (to be used in a future grilled cheese) as well as Jalapeno Light Cheddar (used in this grilled cheese) and the cheeses were eventually shipped. The cheese arrived over a week ago and on my first free day, I made a grilled cheese. For some reason, my inspiration came from fish tacos and I held on to that idea while I went to Whole Foods to purchase the rest of the ingredients. (Spoiler: The end result looks nothing like fish tacos. It doesn’t even include fish! It does include delicious chili mayo, though.) (more…)
Inspiration for my grilled cheese creations can come from the strangest places. This week was no exception. At Jimmy John’s, a sub place I am known to frequent, they have a vegetarian sub that I love. (#6 for those that have been to Jimmy John’s. I order […]
With this tortilla chips grilled cheese, I learned how a pan can make such a difference in something as simple as cooking a grilled cheese. Previously, I had been using a griddle that I believed to look great in photos and cooked pretty well. It is a pan that has been in the family forever so I thought, why change? I had no complaints. Well, I should have known there were actually plenty of reasons to upgrade pans.
Awhile back, my great aunt bought us some sort of something from Williams-Sonoma that we would not use. We originally exchanged it for a panini press but soon realized we wouldn’t really use it as often as hoped. (I am the only sandwich-aholic in the family.) That press was then exchanged for a pair of pans, one of which was a grill pan. This pan was used for this grilled cheese and hopefully the awesomeness can be seen in the photos. The pan browned/crusted the bread perfectly and allowed for a nice crunchy on the outside soft on the inside grilled cheese sandwich. This pan will be used for all future Sunday Dinners. (more…)
