Recently, I received an email from Whole Foods PR department with the subject of “A cheese worthy of a prince – Royal Addition One-Year-Old Cheddar at Whole Foods Market”. As usual, I just thought it was spam/a come on and nothing really worth reading. Out […]
I was just looking through my Google Alerts for grilled cheese and found three interesting/intriguing recipes for amazing grilled cheese sandwiches. Since I know I won’t be able to a grilled cheese featuring Cabot Cheesethat was sent to me complimentary, I thought I would do a mini-roundup featuring these recipes. Hopefully you enjoy…
I have tried so many cheeses while writing this blog and have so many more to try, yet, I know that Cheddar is and always will be one of my favorite cheeses. The sharpness of a good cheddar, in my opinion, is simply unmatched by any other cheese. I will continue to search for the best cheddar out there, as I hunt for the best grilled cheese sandwich. Combine the two and you have yourself a delicious creation. This Apple Cheddar Grilled Cheese is well on its way.

Manchego cheese seems to be a very popular cheese that everyone seems to love. The only problem is, I have mixed feelings. Granted, I do want to give it another chance, but after two tastes, I was simply unsure. That being said, this sandwich still looks amazing. With fall coming on big in the last couple days (at least in up here in Ohio), squash is a great addition to any grilled cheese sandwich, especially one with balsamic onions. Mmmm.
Figs. I know absolutely nothing about figs. I don’t know what they taste like (I don’t think) and I sure as hell don’t know how to cook with them. For that reason, and the fact that it includes smoked gouda, I was intrigued by this particular grilled cheese sandwich. Looks delicious while including a unique ingredient.
Please tell me you find this funny as well…
Recently, I had taken a break from grilled cheese sandwiches as culinary classes were winding down for the semester and I wanted to focus on my studies. I had a final practicum consisting of knife skills and recipe, as well as a country presentation. Oh […]
No great ideas came to mind when thinking of a new grilled cheese recipe so I traveled to Whole Foods for some inspiration. There, I of course found the goat milk cheddar but I also found some great bread. From there, I decided that I would go with a simple grilled cheese with a bit of flair. When sticking with one dish for so long, it is always good to go back to the basics, even if they are spiced up a bit. Plus, sometimes father prefers the simple. (more…)
I suggested that we go with a macaroni grilled cheese for this past Sunday’s sandwich but I was shot down. (The sous chef was worried that the sous chef’s husband (aka my dad) would eat too many carbohydrates and it would affect his sugar. FYI: […]
Since this creation was concocted last minute, I referenced my Great Grilled Cheese book, authored by Laura Werlin, who appears in the above video, for the recipe. (I really enjoy this video and think a lot of her technique is spot on. I used these […]
As you may or may not know, a week ago was my birthday. (Thank you!) For my birthday, I was lucky enough to upgrade my low-end Target purchased tripod to a professional grade one that will take some getting used to, all courtesy the sous chef. Therefore, some of my photography this week may be lacking. I was becoming very frustrated as I tried to figure out the tripod, and as a result my frustration showed through in my photography. I do apologize about that. Either way, the plantain grilled cheese was top notch, no matter who ate it. (more…)
