To some, April is simply the fourth month in a very busy year. However, for me, and other grilled cheese lovers, April is a month full of awesomeness. April is National Grilled Cheese Month, a month dedicated to the most amazing sandwich. In the past, I have  simply let everyone else do something special. This year, I am not only compiling everything that is being done special for the month but I am also doing something special as well. Read on for all the details…

Over the past few days I have been racking my brain as to what I should do special for National Grilled Cheese Month. I thought I would do some sort of special grilled cheese recipe or, as others have and are doing, cook multiple grilled cheese sandwiches throughout the month. Although, all of those are great choices/ideas, I decided against those and instead decided to go into a different direction. I decided to have YOU, the GrilledShane reader, create the special grilled cheese that I would be cooking for National Grilled Cheese Month. Yes, you. If you are reading this blog, you love grilled cheese as much as I do, so why not have you assist in creating a grilled cheese sandwich?

Details:

• Choose one vegetarian ingredient and post it in the comments below.
• One ingredient per comment, per person, please.
• Only one bread choice and up to three cheese choices total.
• All ingredient choices must be posted by April 14, 2013 @ 11:59 PM ET.
• Max number of ingredients will be around 8-12. (Cutoff will depend on chosen ingredients.)
• Sandwich will be created and posted by April 21, 2013.
• If I cannot find a certain ingredient, I will attempt to get the next closest ingredient that I can find.

Essentially, this is a crowd sourced grilled cheese sandwich that you can have a hand in creating. Not only will this grilled cheese sandwich be fun to be a part of, but also an amazing sandwich to eat. Now get thinking and commenting…

Now that I have announced my plans for National Grilled Cheese Month, I want to share how other people are celebrating this most amazing month.

BS’ In The Kitchen

BS’ In The Kitchen is celebrating by creating a new grilled cheese sandwich for everyday in April. They kick it off with Smoked Salmon Bagel Grilled Cheese, a must see.

Closet Cooking

Closet Cooking loves grilled cheese almost as much as I do and so they will be posting plenty of grilled cheese sandwiches over the next couple of weeks. They kick it off with the Bacon Double Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese Sandwich.

Clementine

In honor of National Grilled Cheese Month 2013, Clementine, located in LA, has created a special grilled cheese menu, available after 11 am. It contains gourmet specialties that will blow your mind, including the Primaverde and Ghormeh Sabzi Melt. If you are anywhere near LA, you definitely should hit up Clementine for their special National Grilled Cheese Month menu. I know I would.

The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen

Happy National Grilled Cheese Month! The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen (located in San Francisco) will be celebrating with the launch of our dinner hours and service at the Mission location on Wednesday, and extended hours for all Giants games at South Park! CHEESE!
