Sunday Dinners: Just the beginning.

Ever since I can remember, I have loved grilled cheese sandwiches. Also, ever since I can remember, I have loved to cook. Put the two together and you have one happy Shane. In order to broaden my horizons, I have taken those two ideas and created Sunday Dinners. Every Sunday night, I will create a grilled cheese concotion, taste and then rate. This way I will be able to experience with new ingredients such as various cheeses and breads. I hope this will begin to enhance my culinary knowledge.
Tonight, being the inaugural evening, I went with something simple. The ingredients are not totally out of this world or even weird for a grilled cheese but they are good together. As mentioned, in the future, I will branch out and try other ingredients, some that people may not think of to use on a grilled cheese.
ingredients:
- White Cheddar Cheese
- Homemade Basil Pesto
- Homemade Sundried Tomatoes
- Sourdough Bread
grilled cheese grade: B+
Overall, I would definitely say that tonight was a good first effort. There is room for improvement, including simply perfecting the cooking method for the grilled cheese. I believe that the bread was too buttery/greasy and one side was over-cooked while the other was cooked perfectly. We were rushed, so that does factor into the equation, but hopefully in the future we will have more time.
In the future I hope to give a better, more thorough description, including photos, but for now, I will just leave you with this final grade. Thanks for reading, I hope you check back next Sunday for another edition of Sunday Dinners.
